Young people need more than academic qualifications to navigate today's changing employment landscape. They increasingly need practical digital competencies, confidence, communication abilities and the capacity to adapt to new technologies.
F SSIBU Mission Foundation - Uganda is therefore working to make computer skilling an important part of youth empowerment. Our goal is to help underserved young people acquire practical knowledge that can strengthen their readiness for employment, further education and entrepreneurship.
Through guided computer training, participants are introduced to everyday digital tasks that can be useful in school, the workplace and community life. They can learn how to prepare documents, type efficiently, organize information, communicate digitally, search for reliable information and use basic productivity tools.
But our vision goes beyond computer operation.
We want young people to understand how digital skills can connect with their personal goals. A young person interested in business can use technology to organize information and communicate with customers. Someone preparing for employment can develop basic digital competencies needed in many workplaces. A student can use technology to research and strengthen learning. Another young person may discover new educational opportunities through responsible internet use.
Mentorship is an important part of this journey. Young people need encouragement to turn skills into action, make responsible decisions and develop confidence in their abilities.
