For many young people who leave school prematurely, the greatest challenge is not a lack of ambition but a lack of opportunity. Without practical skills, they can struggle to access decent employment or income-generating opportunities. F SSIBU Mission Foundation is therefore developing a digital empowerment initiative centered on 20 computers that will provide school dropouts with access to practical technology training.
The program recognizes that digital skills have become increasingly important in education, employment, communication and entrepreneurship. By creating access to computers within the communities we serve, we can help young people gain skills that are relevant to today’s changing economy.
Participants will receive hands-on training in computer fundamentals, document preparation, spreadsheets, presentations, online research, digital communication and other practical digital competencies. Where appropriate, the program will also introduce participants to entrepreneurship and online opportunities, helping them understand how technology can support small businesses and future careers.
The 20 computers will enable structured training sessions where learners can practice what they are taught. This practical approach is particularly important for young people who may have limited previous exposure to technology. Instead of being excluded because they could not complete formal education, participants will have an opportunity to rebuild their confidence and develop new capabilities.
Donors have an important role in making this possible. Support can contribute toward computers, software, electricity, internet connectivity, training materials, maintenance and qualified trainers. These investments can create lasting value because the equipment can continue serving new groups of young people over time.
A computer can connect a young person to knowledge, employers, customers, learning resources and entrepreneurial possibilities. Twenty computers can therefore become twenty pathways—and potentially hundreds of opportunities over time.
Through donor partnership, F SSIBU Mission Foundation aims to transform technology access into a practical second chance for vulnerable school dropouts.
