Challenge

This project addresses bonded labor and brick kiln slavery that traps Shakeela, a young widow, and her four daughters. They face exploitation, extreme poverty, lack of education, unsafe working conditions, and no freedom. Without intervention, the cycle of slavery will continue, denying them safety, dignity, and a chance for a better future.

Solution

This microproject will rescue Shakeela and her four daughters from brick kiln slavery through legal advocacy and protection. It will provide safe shelter, food, medical care, and counseling, enroll the girls in school, and equip Shakeela with skills and livelihood support, breaking the cycle of exploitation and giving them a safe, dignified, and independent life.

Long-Term Impact

This project will break the cycle of debt slavery in brick kilns, freeing families to live with dignity and hope. By providing debt relief, education, and vocational training, it empowers families to build sustainable livelihoods and escape poverty. Supporting small businesses helps prevent re-enslavement and promotes economic independence. Over time, this creates stronger, self-reliant communities and breaks generational cycles of exploitation and hardship.
