We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. Your support not only made an immediate response possible after Hurricane Erick, but also broke through the wall of invisibility that so often surrounds rural families in Mexico during times of crisis.

On June 19, 2025, Hurricane Erick, a Category 4 storm, struck the coasts of Oaxaca and Guerrero with tremendous force. In just a few hours, many communities lost their homes, their communal assets, and above all, their milpas—the heart of maize that nourishes life, culture, and community in the region.

In the midst of this emergency, the solidarity of the GlobalGiving community, together with allied foundations, made it possible for Cooperación Comunitaria and the Regional Fund of Amuzgo Peoples to bring hope to thirteen communities in the Costa Chica of Guerrero. With your support, we were able to distribute 114 tons of maize (2,280 sacks), reaching 1,650 families in one of their most critical moments.

What moved us most was that this maize could first reach those who needed it most:

  •  400 sacks for older adults
  • 276 sacks for single mothers
  •  170 sacks for people with disabilities

Each sack delivered was not just food—it was a sign that they are not alone, a breath of security in the midst of the storm. This action allowed families to strengthen their resilience and save resources to begin rebuilding their lives and their communities.

Thank you for being part of this chain of hope.
