Dear Friends,
Greetings from Barlad, Romania! Our CEO Laura Larkin and myself have been visiting with our team and special kids over the past two weeks. It's been so exciting to see the progress our girls have made and to welcome additional chldren to our center as we now have 40 children.
Our social worker, Carmen, has been further developing our teen and pre-teen program and working closely with our girls. For our younger girls, we focus on the basics of reading and writing and math. Although school is supposed to be mandatory, in reality it is not for many girls with disabilities as there are not special education teachers here and it is easy for a girl to fall through the cracks. Early intervention is critical and we are grateful for your assistance which has enabled us to help our girls.
