Each year, a lot of young people email us asking to help them get to our boot camp because they simply can't afford to. Each year, we pay for 20-40 young people to come from all over the country to attend our boot camps. The average cost is $250 per person. Giving these young people a chance to network with like-minded youth and access to key information from experts helps them take their idea to the next level.
Since DoSomething.org Social Action Boot Camps are based in major cities such as San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and LA, many youth from various communities are unable to attend. Each year, we make an effort to fly in inspiring change makers to our boot camp so they also can have access to the experts and information available at the event.
This microproject will ensure that 40 deserving young social entrepreneurs will be able to attend DoSomething.org's Social Action Boot Camp.
The impact of this program is incredible because any one of these ideas can turn into something that changes the world. Young people are passionate and connected (to their phones/web), and without some guidance their ideas are going to waste. Our goal is inspire a generation of young entrepreneurs who are afraid to dream big and do big. Some of the boot camp alums have even been finalists for the Do Something Awards aired on Vh1!
