There is definitely no doubt that the beginning of the school year for PCI has not been easy at all, it created that for any educational institution because we have had to make many changes, one of them online teaching, which in a way has allowed us to face and overcoming new challenges but it is still difficult for us to adapt to not having contact with the students in the classrooms.
For some of the youth of Panajachel Colegio Internacional, access to technology has been difficult, but we have been able to collaborate with several of them by lending them laptops from the school and others that have been donated between teachers and students, which has demonstrated the human quality of the PCI family, but above all cooperativism and we have also seen how parents have tried to support their children to the fullest.
At PCI we had many changes, we had to move from one building to another, because the previous tenant wanted to charge us more for the monthly rent, but in a pandemic it was impossible, many of the students who previously paid full fees, came to apply for a scholarship with their parents to which we could not refuse, we also had some difficulties in hiring foreign teachers since although we had confirmed teachers they could not start the school year with us, administrative personnel also left who when seeing the situation did not want to face it since they imagined that we would not survive and We lost several students because their parents worked with tourism directly and this sector was the most affected in Panajachel. Despite all the chaos we have faced, we carry on, on our feet and with more strength to carry out this project, because we believe in our students and that each of them can have a bright future.
We understand that much of the aid was destined for the pandemic, for hospitals, for the purchase of medicine, etc. But we continue in the fight so that our teachers have their monthly salary, since their families depend on them and as we continue in this wonderful project that has supported us, I believe, until now, unconditionally
