On the 19th of March, 2020, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education announced the temporary shutdown of all schools in Nigeria, effective 23rdMarch, 2020 in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus. This prompted a set of questions; “How is it going to affect the educational system? How would this affect teachers whose major/only source of income is the salary gotten from teaching? among others. Educand Education Initiative (EEI) decided to stand up for the Nigerian teachers by raising this funds which will help ameliorate the effect of this lockdown on their finances.
On the 30th November, 2020, donations got closed
We were able to raise $1,344.06 from 52 donors.
We were able to disburse the funds to teachers who qualified through the competition on our social media platforms
