Imagine a library with enough books to help the students who study there! The e-Library on the Bishop Comboni campus will have seating for 167 students when completed. Phase I will seat 64. Yes, some will be using the computers, but the majority of students and residents are there to use the textbooks or reference books they need. Phase I of this facility opens in November of 2018. Rural students cannot afford to purchase personal copies of textbooks. Help fill the shelves with books!
Most students cannot afford personal copies of books relevant to their course of study. They use textbooks in the classroom and leave them behind at the end of the day. Reference books for advanced study are simply a dream. Books of former exams with answers, called Q & A, are published regularly to help with the nine exams per subject per year in Uganda. They are all financially out of reach for most rural students.
How wonderful it will be. A library user will be able to sit down with their choice of textbook or reference book in the library! The students' access to the appropriate book will not end when the class is over. A stocked library will be a huge asset to the school campus. The community will benefit immensely from this resource as 2,000-3,000 use this facility each year.
Literacy and a connection to the world are priceless. This library will broaden the knowledge of all the students who attend Bishop Comboni College Kambuga (BCCK) and the surrounding community. The ability of the local hospital to diagnose, the knowledge acquired by local residents and neighboring schools, is life-changing. It means the ability to step into the current century for a community in a very remote area. It is a huge benefit to a District with a population of 250,000.
