This project will provide free computer proficiency training to 100 young ladies in Develop Africa's Educational Lifeline For Pregnant Girls program. These young ladies had not received any computer training prior to the start of this program. Computers and computer-run devices now hold key roles in schools and the workplace. This training will provide the computer foundation that they need for a great future.
Project will solve the problem of computer illiteracy and NO access to computer training / resources for 100 young ladies in Sierra Leone. The cost for access to training and equipment is prohibitively outside the financial reach of these ladies. The lack of this essential competency has barred or prevented these ladies from pursuing opportunities that require this knowledge.
Project will solve computer illiteracy by providing access to excellent computer training - live instructional classes and access to a network server loaded with a wide range of multimedia tutorials from Khanacademy.org etc. This project will open the door to computer proficiency. Funds will cover program implementation costs - such as supplies, facility expenses, staff salaries etc. for up to 3 months.
Computer proficiency is the foundation to all careers requiring familiarity with computers. This will open up a new door of opportunity to them. This will enable them to progress and succeed in their careers. As a result, their future employment opportunities will not be adversely or negatively affected. This timely intervention will bring real hope and help them escape from potential future unemployment and poverty.
