Summary

This project will help us give the local children a Christmas they will never forget! During the Christmas celebration our kids will be joined by local conservation NGOs that will not only allow our kids the opportunity to have a fun filled christmas, but also learn about the importance of conservation. They will receive presents from Santa, play conservation games and so much more. When families are in survival mode, Christmas is a luxury they cant afford - so its our way to bring & share JOY.

Challenge

This project address the issue of both conservation and children that deserve to have a Christmas celebration. Children in marginalised areas near reserves are often vulnerable and in poor families, struggling along the bread-line. For these families its about survival. This project will help teach the children about why they need to conserve wildlife, as their African heritage and at the same time bring Christmas joy, presents, a healthy meal and etc... every child deserves a good christmas.

Solution

Involving conservation NGOs in a Christmas project will create an opportunity for the children to develop relationships with wildlife, and become conservation ambassadors. In addition, we support families who are impoverished and cannot afford a nutritious meal, or Christmas gifts because they are in survival mode. Our small Christmas intervention brings joy, a warm meal, and a gift for their school year or an item of clothing. It is about ubuntu... a shared humanity.

Long-Term Impact

When children grow up happy & healthy, and exposed to a variety of things, they have the ability to be well rounded children... able to make their own choices about their lives and the decisions they want to take. Perhaps they become successful & decide to go back to their communities and " pay it forward"and help others... either way, we feel that children that are cared for, supported, and loved, will flourish. And our project aims to do just that-- grow resilient communities that flourish.
