Dear Donors and Friends, Namaste!
On behalf of the children, families, and staff at our BASS Daycare Center at the Guntur Chili Yard, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Although we did not reach our full fundraising target of $2,500 within the 90-day period, we successfully raised $748 from 7 kind donors. We put every dollar to good use to make immediate, meaningful improvements for 100 seasonal migrant children.
How We Used the Funds
We focused on the most urgent health and hygiene needs at the daycare center:
Clean Water Tank System: We bought and installed dedicated water storage tubs and connected pipeline tubes to the main water supply tank. This guarantees a steady supply of clean water for drinking, handwashing, and daily cleaning.
Tiled Dishwashing Station: We built a clean, tiled dishwashing and prep area. Our staff can now wash utensils and plates safely, stopping the spread of germs and illnesses
Fresh Wall Painting: We painted the inner and outer walls of the daycare center with bright, cheerful colors. This turned the center into a warm, happy, and hygienic space where children love to learn.
Temporary Toilet Shed: To solve the emergency need for privacy and stop open defecation, we built a temporary toilet shed at the back of the center until we can secure funds for permanent concrete toilets in the future.
The Difference It Made
These practical updates have made a huge difference in the daily lives of these 100 children. Having clean running water, a safe dishwashing zone, and a private toilet immediately protects the children from illnesses like diarrhea and skin infections.
Working mothers in the chili yard now have peace of mind knowing their little ones are safe and cared for in a bright, clean environment while they earn their daily wages.
Looking Ahead
This microproject is now officially retired on GlobalGiving. Although we could not construct the full permanent toilet building under this campaign, your support gave us the essentials we needed right away. We will keep working to find local support to upgrade these temporary setups into permanent structures over time.
Thank you to our wonderful donors for standing by these migrant children and helping us provide them with health, safety, and dignity.
With warm regards
