American domestic violence victims fleeing abuse in foreign countries must access critical services immediately. They cannot use a phone that abusers have had access to as many install spy ware and tracking devices. With this project, we will provide 25 victims with $60 pre-paid cell phones so they can communicate with the police, medical care, their children's schools, our agency as well as other agencies they are seeking services from.
American domestic violence victims have little more than the clothes on their backs when the flee. A cell phone is critical for them to access services and get to safety. They cannot use a phone given to them by their abusers as it may have spyware or a tracking device.
With this project 20 Amercican domestic violence victims will be given a pre-paid cell phone to use on an emergency basis as they are getting from danger to safety. Statistics show that the most dangerous time and highest possibility of lethality is when victims leave. This project aims to help get victims to safety immediately.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
