Greetings from the Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi, India.
We are immensely grateful for your generous donations to the microproject “Help 100 Slum Girls in India with Hygiene Supplies.” This initiative was launched to provide 100 young girls, who have faced significant adversities, with essential hygiene supplies, including innerwear, sanitary pads, soap, toothpaste, and towels. With just $25 per girl, we aimed to secure a year’s supply of these necessities, offering them not only physical cleanliness but also health, dignity, and a sense of self-worth.
These girls, often overlooked and living without access to clean water or proper sanitation, face the risk of infections and diseases. Their situation is exacerbated by a lack of menstrual hygiene education and the dangers associated with using unhygienic materials. The high costs and scarcity of sanitary products, along with the difficulty of accessing clean facilities, make their circumstances particularly challenging.
Despite not achieving our funding goal of $3,000 within the specified 90 days, raising only $195, we have made significant strides in supporting the hygiene needs of slum girls.
We successfully distributed sanitary supplies to 30 girls residing in a children’s home, which were utilized for two months, contributing to their improved hygiene and well-being.
These supplies provided crucial support to the girls, ensuring their dignity and health. By addressing their hygiene needs, we aimed to empower them and foster a positive impact within their community.
Although this specific micro project has come to a close, our dedication to empowering girls in India continues steadfastly. We encourage you to explore our other ongoing projects, such as “Empower Girls in India,” where your continued support can make a meaningful difference.
