Retrak is happy to report that the microproject "Buy a Dairy Cow for Tudabujja" has been fully funded. Thank you for helping us continue to transform lives, one barnyard animal at a time!
Tudabujja is an important step in the journey that street children take from the streets back into a home and family. Your support makes it possible for Retrak to teach children basic farming and agricultural skills that they can bring with them to their home villages, allowing the children to contribute to feeding their families and increasing their household income.
Each year around 90 children stay at Tudabujja, Retrak's Halfway Home and Farm on the outskirts of Kampala. Living in cottages with 7 other children and a house parent, they escape the mean streets of the city and live in a family setting. They go to school, play sports, and learn how to work on the farm. All of this is done to prepare them to return to a family, either their own family or a foster family. Our model is extremely effective as the vast majority of children who are resettled by Retrak remain with their families.
Ibrahim, a 15-year-old boy at Tudabujja said it best: "I am grateful for the teaching, food and skills that I have learned at Tudabujja." We at Retrak are also grateful, for supporters like you.
