On December 18th, 2012, 25 junior and senior high students from Minneapolis Edison High School received the JA Titan experience as a result of your contribution. Minneapolis Edison High School is an at-risk school located in the Twin Cities urban core. JA Titan is an online program designed to complement high school business, economics, and math. Provided to students throughout the community, this interactive, online business simulation offers a unique way for young people to learn what it takes to compete in the marketplace and run a successful business.
Set in the year 2035, JA Titan creates a world in which players are CEOs of their own companies. Prior to the simulation, Minneapolis Edison students were provided with classroom lessons that focused on key business concepts. During the simulation, these students were tasked with running a manufacturing company and mastering key business decisions such as price of product, production levels, and marketing expenses. Students were challenged to increase their sales and profits, react to their competition, try new business strategies, and respond to changing market conditions.
The classroom teacher at Minneapolis Edison was excited to bring JA Titan to her students because it offered a real-life experience that they could learn from. At the conclusion of the program, the class demonstrated a 20% increase in knowledge of program concepts through pre and post program evaluations. In addition, 85% of the class indicated that they understood the importance staying in school has on future success. Overall, the JA Titan program made a meaningful impact on these students and will better prepare them for the future. Thank you for making this possible.
