Thank you to everyone who supported JA Cleveland’s microproject! We asked for your support to provide the JA Titan program experience to students at Shaw High School in East Cleveland and 20 of these students are able to participate thanks to your support. So far, the students and their teacher, Mr. Gartner, are getting geared up for the JA Cleveland Titan Competition with the help of their volunteer Kumar Belle.
Last year, the combined team from Shaw/Rocky River took 1st place in the overall competition. In keeping with last year, kids from Shaw are collaborating with students at Rocky River High School. Rocky River is a Westside suburb of Cleveland. What makes this connection so unique is that it crosses geographic, racial and socioeconomic boundaries. Through Junior Achievement, kids from opposite sides of the city and social spectrum are able to work, learn and compete together. Through the competition and virtual connection experience, these students form friendships that extend beyond the classroom.
We are looking forward to this year’s competition on April 24 at Parker Hannifin’s World Headquarters. Cleveland is in conversation with other area offices to create a National competition, which will give students additional opportunities to strut their stuff in the Titan arena!
