All of us at Central London Samaritans would like to thank you once again for your kind donation to our Christmas appeal.
Our branch was able to keep open 24/7 throughout the Festive period. Our volunteers gave up their time, even on Christmas Day and night, to ensure we were there for anybody who needed us.
Christmas may be a wonderful time of year, but for some people it's also a time when feelings of loneliness, depression and anxiety can be overwhelming. For many people struggling to cope, ours was the only helpline open when other services were closed.
Throughout December 2021, we responded to 2931 calls and 772 emails. Your donations helped us cover the cost of 84 calls for help.
At the time, the UK faced a new contagious variant, Omicron, which meant many volunteers tested positive for covid19 and therefore were not able to attend their shift. Others wanted to spend time with their families which they were not able to do it the Christmas before as the UK was in lockdown. Our volunteers are very committed to our cause so many stepped up to keep our service going 24/7 throughout December.
Your donation has been crucial and allowed us to keep our phone line open. Every call we answer could be the one that saves or changes someone's life - the call that ends with someone finding the strength to carry on.
