This project will allow Merove to take his TOEFL English exam. Merove was a self-taught English student when he enrolled at the English in Mind (EIM) institute in 2012. Since then, he quickly moved through his courses and is now a proud graduate of EIM. This means he's ready for his TOEFL! Merove will use this international language qualification to find dignified, professional employment - but he can't afford to pay for classes or expensive exam fees. That's why he needs donors like you.
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Merove, cannot afford to attend these schools, or take exams. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
Your donations will allow Merove to prepare for and take his TOEFL exam. By ensuring that Merove can take his TOEFL English exam, you can help him prove his ability and find professional employment.
Your donations will give Merove the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
