Thank you, once again, for your generous donation to our afterschool program. Although we were not able to reach our goal on GlobalGiving we are glad to report that we were able to combine your donations with those collected through other channels to keep our afterschool program running!

Our afterschool program consisted of basketball and soccer training as well as dance and music classes and tutoring for students who needed a little extra help. The idea was to expose our students more to sports and art to help them develop life skills like teamwork, sportsmanship, and creativity while at the same time keeping them off the streets and away from the influences of gangs, drugs and other dangerous activities. Those that participated in the dance program went on to compete against other schools in September and won 1st place at the city level and 2nd place at the department level. We are very proud of them, and all of our students, for all of their hard work!

We also want to see all of our students excel in their classes which is why we set aside time for tutoring for those that were struggling with certain subjects. Many of our students have already surpassed the education level of their parents so they aren't able to get help with their homework unless they have older siblings. Setting aside time for these students to get help from their teachers and volunteers has greatly motivated our struggling students and as a result we have seen improvements in their grades and class participation.

We are already looking forward to next year's afterschool program and are currently deciding on the curriculum for the program. If you would like to continue to support our school, check out our main page for more information on the work that we do and consider making a donation.

With Gratitude,
