Overall, we had a very smooth experience with GlobalGiving. With the help of the donations collected, it’s now possible for us to pay developers who have put substantial time and effort into our software. The final version of our product will soon be available to our current users and we will be providing service to a public hospital for 6 months (Hospital Universitário Walter Cantídio in Brazil), reaching approximately 5,000 patients. Because of our software, more patients who are illiterate could now understand how to use medical prescriptions, leading to more effective and better medical treatments. And you, the donor, made all this possible. 5,000 and more people will live a healthier life because of your help.
Even though we were able to raise more than 1,000 dollars, we did encounter two major problems during the campaign. First of all, since we are located in Brazil, there were many Brazilian donors and some of them had their payments declined even though their credit cards were functioning normally. Secondly, due to our regionality, it’s very hard for us to reach international donors. We tried to attract international donors by targeting corporate partners who have GlobalGiving gift cards; however, the process was harder than expected.
However, in the end, everything turned out well. After many tireless nights, we found a Brazilian company with gift cards and the employees there were able to contribute a lot to our campaign. Some Brazilian donors who couldn’t get their payments processed online ended up transferring the money directly to us so we can put the money in GlobalGiving using our own credit cards.
Finally, we would like to thank GlobalGiving for providing us with an amazing online platform. But most importantly, we would like to thank you, fellow donors, who helped us so much with our social enterprise. We want to improve the health system and bring positive innovation to the world and none of this would have been possible without your help. With our software, more patients can have access to medical treatments. We fight for this basic human right and thank you so much for joining our journey!
