This micro project will fund 400 square metres of land to erect a new building for ATMA Gurukulam Children's home in Thrissur District, Kerala, India, which provides care, boarding & educational support to children who do not have a safe and secure home. Your contribution will help to take the first step in providing a safe home to 150 children.
Many children do not have safety and security in their own home. Social, legal or economic problems in the family deprive them of the love and care of parents, often leading to neglect or abuse. These children need the safety of long-term institutional care. At the ATMA Gurukulam Girls' Home, we give them the love and care of a family, and ample educational and growth opportunities to set them on a career path, helping them to take charge of their lives.
We are currently working from a rented premises, with the support of generous contributions from donors. Realising the impact we have been able to make on the children's lives, we are committed to expand this project to accommodate atleast 150 children. We are raising funds to buy land to develop the required facilities. This micro-project will harness the power of crowd-funding to achieve this goal - the power of small contributions to make a large impact!
The ATMA Gurukulam, as part of the ATMA Harmony Village, will become a new model of institutionalised child care. This will inspire many more organisations to adopt this approach, thus helping thousands of children out of the poverty cycle, and lead a life of dignity. It will also promote social responsibility towards children in need.
