Sumatra's rainforests are a global treasure, vital for the survival of critically endangered orangutans. With only 14,000 Sumatran and fewer than 800 Tapanuli orangutans remaining, restoring damaged habitat is critical. At SOS, we're supporting the rewilding of degraded landscapes, turning them back into thriving rainforests. The results are inspiring: wildlife is returning to these restored forests, including orangutans, elephants, sun bears, gibbons, leopard cats, and various endangered birds.

We are deeply committed to the community of Palo Seco, Parrita, working together to protect this important population of sea turtles. This beach is one of the main nesting sites in the Central Pacific. Unfortunately, many nests are lost due to the illegal collection of turtle eggs. Our team of biologists and volunteers works hard to locate and relocate nests to a safe hatchery, where the eggs are carefully monitored until they hatch, and they are released.

This agricultural and multicultural project responds to the demand for high-market-value fruit trees by building nurseries on arable land lent by the Moroccan Jewish community. Villagers will be trained in arboriculture methods and nursery management to grow saplings for donation to nearby farming families.
