GlobalGiving nonprofit partners can now receive donations in Kenyan Shillings through a GlobalGiving + M-Changa partnership. Starting July 2018, donors will be able to select an M-Pesa giving option, made possible through the innovative partnership. This new giving tool is available to all organizations fundraising on GlobalGiving—including those participating in our Accelerator.

Join GlobalGiving + Access M-Pesa

With this new partnership, GlobalGiving + M-Changa hope to strengthen community-led philanthropy in Kenya, as well as drive more international resources to local partners. Now, our partners in Kenya will be able to grow their network of supporters—both next door and across oceans.

What is M-Changa?

M-Changa is an online and mobile fundraising platform for individuals, organizations, and businesses based in Nairobi, Kenya and a trusted partner of GlobalGiving.

How do donors make a gift using M-Pesa?

Simple! Anyone who has a Kenyan M-Pesa account, may make mobile gifts via this partnership. To make a gift via M-Pesa:

1. Select “Pay Bill” from the M-Pesa menu.
2. Enter the M-Changa business number 891300
3. Enter your new GlobalGiving account number. This is “GG” followed by the project ID # for the project you hope to give to (this is on individual project pages but an example is GG123456)
4. Enter the amount you wish to pay
5. Enter your M-Pesa PIN
6. Confirm that all details are correct
7. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS
