Service Week is one full week dedicated to service-learning. For one whole week in February, all UWC Costa Rica students and a majority of our staff will work with different communities in Costa Rica to deliver community service while exploring the natural and cultural beauty that Costa Rica has to offer.
Whether it is supporting a National Park to protect biodiversity or working directly on special community-led social impact projects, Service Week is a yearly milestone of the UWC Costa Rica experience. Students turn ideas and learning into action to serve and create real, tangible impact across Costa Rica.
Impact:
- Students have a high-impact opportunity to interact with Costa Rican communities and gain a clearer and more holistic vision of the country.
- Students can experience first-hand that every action -from small to big - can have a significant impact.
- Service Week is the culmination of our experiential learning model. Students put into practice each of our six core competencies, especially leadership, conflict transformation, intercultural communication, and sustainability skills.
- We offer more than 6,000 volunteer work hours to support communities and projects across all seven provinces in Costa Rica.
