Simon created this fundraiser to commemorate The Transcontintal Race, an A 4,000km single stage bike race across Europe taking place on Friday July 28, 2017.
Here's what Simon has to say about it:
Paul Farmer was 23, and studying medicine at Harvard, when he first visited Haiti and found that only the very wealthy had access to healthcare. Shortly afterwards, with the help of Ophelia Dahl and others he founded Partners in Health and set up a clinic in Cange. This is one of the main settings for Fiona's book "The Other Side of the Mountain", which we visited last year. PIH have recently opened an incredible new teaching hospital in nearby Mirebalais and I hope to raise £1 per km for it.
