If I run for myself, the only goal becomes crossing the finish line as fast as I can. After that, everything is over.
If I run for those little hearts, the finish line could become the starting line of their lives.
I am a 23 year old marathoner on my way to run the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon in Seattle the 9th of June. Why am I training like crazy, suffering throught my sessions and doing everything I can to run as fast as I can? I am doing all of that thanks to 1 little person that had an open heart surgery 10 years ago.
Amaya born with a partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC). She needed an open heart surgery, and Kardias gave her the helping hand she looked for. She´s my best friend and an inspiration, and that´s why I run. I run for her, for her heart that works perfectly thanks to Kardias, and most of all, I run for all of those children that, like Amaya, are filled with dreams in a heart that needs your help.
Every step I take while I train, and every step while I run those 26.2 miles will be with the heart, for all of those little hearts that need you.
