Hundreds of people have died, more than 4,000 have been injured and presently more than 20,000 are residing in shelters. Roads have been badly damaged, bridges have collapsed power supplies have been affected and a state of emergency has been declared. Volunteers from all around the World are on the ground, providing first aid, search and rescue, and carrying out a rapid assessment to identify needs for additional aid.
