The Maine Recovery Advocacy Project (ME-RAP) is a grassroots network of people in recovery, along with their allies, who are working to build recovery advocacy in Maine. We imagine a Maine where every person has what they need to enter and sustain recovery from substance use, no matter which path they decide. Everything we do and advocate for comes from the grassroots up. We are committed to ensuring that all of our work is grounded in the needs of real Maine people.
During ME-RAP’s first year, our organizers, network, and the wider community have helped to educate Mainers about drug sentencing reform, recovery support services, person-centered language, and more.
We need your help to continue this work. This project started with a small grant and a whole lot of heart! But now, we are coming up on the end of our first year and need to get 15+ organizers to Las Vegas in September for Mobilize Recovery.
Mobilize Recovery is an initiative of the Recovery Advocacy Project and The Voices Project. Its mission is to expand the policy to support recovery, create connections to supportive services that are vital and life-saving, and engage affected individuals in meaningful civic action. The initiative convenes advocates with lived experience to build capacity for organized civic engagement with new leadership across the country. Each year, hundreds of recovery advocates are selected to attend Mobilize Recovery to learn innovative strategies and tactics for grassroots organizing. Our team also needs support to expand our office space, purchase materials, and host events in 2022.
All donations will stay right here in Maine and will be used for:
-$1000 will support 2 organizers to Mobilize Recovery
-$500 will support one month of office rent
-$250 will support one event
-$100 will support a month of the internet at our office
-$50 will support an organizer with gas to an event
Honestly, any size donation will help to ensure that we can continue this work. Thank you so much for your support!
