I, Rabindranath and She is an artistic endeavour to raise funds for sex-workers and their children in a red-light area of Kolkata, India. We are a team of creatively inclined people, coming together with our art to support what we believe to be a very worthy cause. ////
We pledge to create 8 music videos for you featuring Indian classical dance and the timeless melodies of Rabindranath Tagore, whose pen always stood strong against social injustice. In return we ask you to come forward and donate to our fundraiser. ////
We have been working sincerely behind the scenes the last few months with limited resources. We will update this fundraiser with links to our videos as and when we release them. To get notifications when we release the videos, please follow @IRSforacause on Facebook. ////
Why we are doing this: Following the COVID-19 lockdown and the cyclone Amphan, the city is devastated. Those already struggling to make ends meet are now finding it harder to carry on the fight for survival. This community has been especially hard-hit by loss of income during the lockdown. Our fundraiser will support the project below by Village Volunteers - all funds will benefit New Light, Kolkata.////
We, the makers of 'I, Rabindranath and She' believe that all women deserve to be treated with dignity. Even sex-workers. And that all children deserve to learn, play and nurture their dreams. Even sex-workers' children. We know we are far from such a society but this initiative is our collective first step towards that future.
