On September 26, Hurricane Helene made landfall as one of the strongest and most intense hurricanes in recorded history, causing disastrous and widespread destruction from Florida to North Carolina. Less than two weeks later, a second catastrophic storm, Hurricane Milton, made landfall in west Florida, leaving unprecedented damage in its wake.
