We are the Himalayan Heroes. We ride motorcycles across some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world. Our motivations for varied. Some of us ride as a bucket list item, some to remember someone, some ride with a new appreciation for life after a close call with death or the loss of a loved one. Myself, I’m just trying to live the best life possible and for me that often comes from doing things that are just ridiculously hard or dangerous enough to deter the average person. Whatever our reasons for adventure, make no mistake, we are here for ourselves…and we make no apologies for that. We run blindly into the unknown for an experience that will in some way stay with us or even reshape us in some way. I could place a half page-long quote here by BJ Neblett about each of us being the sum total of our experiences, but I think I’ve illustrated my point enough and that’s not really what this is about.

Come July/August several groups of us will be heading to Mongolia. If you’ve ever seen Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor’s ‘Long Way Round’, you’ll recall Mongolia is where things got so hard that they almost gave up, then later fell in love with it and did not want to leave. It’s in Mongolia that we have found the opportunity to make these adventures about much more than just us and our lives. We plan to also make this journey about improving the lives of others and leaving Mongolia just a little bit better off than before we got there.

The grand plan: WE'RE GOING TO BUILD ENTIRE HOMES (whole communities if all goes well) FOR MONGOLIAN FAMILIES IN NEED.

Gers are what we call the traditional home that most Mongolians live in today. It’s a moveable ground tent, covered by double felt, and is easy to dismantle or build. Importantly, a ger is capable of keeping a family safe and warm when the temperatures outside drop below -45C. Unfortunately, most low-income families will never own their own ger. Most will rent, but some have to rely on staying with family with up to 10 people sleeping on the dirt grounding of one damaged ger (prone to flooding and freezing). Those that remain with neither option will sadly perish.

Together with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, we will be repairing damaged homes and building brand new gers. We also aim supply wooden flooring, beds, mattresses, curtains, and extra insulation. These homes will be for children and families identified as at risk. Providing them with a safe home and improving their overall quality of life.

It’s simple. Follow our adventures, see us meet theses families oversee the building of these communities, donate if you can, most importantly SHARE this link. It’s our combined networks that we are relying on to literally make the world a better place.

An accumulation of small donations can make more of a difference than you think.
$10 - will provide a curtain to help keep warm in a ger.
$30 - will provide a white dense (outer cover of ger) to protect the felt cover and improve ger’s outlook.
$60 - will provide a bed and mattress for a child instead of sleeping on the floor.
$140 – will provide a wooden floor for a ger.
$300 – will provide a double felt cover to coordinate the influence of rain, wind, storm, cold, and heat.
$1000 – will provide a completely new ger for a needy family.

At this point we’re aiming to house at least 5 families, but let’s see how we go.

So be proud of what your loved one or friend is getting involved in. I hate to use the generic coffee example.. but go without one once and help literally save lives. please support us in any way you can. (Remember the importance of sharing)

I’ll even get the ball rolling with the honour of the first donation.

Thank you and much love.
Tito.
