Ethnic cleansing. “the mass expulsion or killing of members of one ethnic or religious group in an area by those of another” (Oxford languages). Murder, rape, property destruction. This is happening. Right now.
Examples of ethnic cleansing in history include the Spanish expulsion of Jews and Muslims during the Middle Ages, the massacre of Tutsis in the 1990s, and the extremist Nazi regime, horrifically murdering Jews, homosexuals and Gypsies. All this is believed to be history, far from our reality. But what if I told you it wasn’t? And what if I told you that you could play a monumental role in history?
Since August 2017, the Rohingya people of Burma (Myanmar) have been experiencing horrific violence and a brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing, simply because of their ethnic origin. Burmese soldiers have burned entire Rohingya villages to the ground, indiscriminately massacred Rohingya men, women, and children, and forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee on foot or by boat to refugee camps in Bangladesh.
The violence and inhumanity of the situation have reached outrageous levels. You have the opportunity to help the hopeless, the desperate.
Your donation will support life-saving assistance and relief efforts for Rohingya people displaced by the ongoing inhumane violence and conflict, specifically in and around the refugee camps in the Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh and neighboring settlements. Your support will help survivors and victims get necessary immediate relief supplies like food and hygiene kits, as well as provide longer-term support through activities like the construction of much needed medical clinics and field hospitals.
