HELP MY GRANDMA WITH PARKINSON'S DISEASE
A fundraiser by Gabrielle Aiello
WHO I AM: Hello, my name is Gabrielle Aiello, my grandmother Kathy Procell has been through alot but meeting her you could never tell because she is so up beat. She always makes the best of any situation. This past year has for sure been a hard year on the whole family, but I cannot begin to imagine how this year has affected my grandmother. CHERISHED MEMORIES: I have so many memories of going to my grandma (Gran) and grandpa's (Tooth) house with my sisters and cousins. We loved it, Gran would play WII games with us and on some nights she would even make us crab legs to eat. Then in morning Tooth would cook the best bacon and eggs before we went to church together. My favorite nights were the nights I laid on the couch with my grandma and watched I Love Lucy. To this day I am a huge I Love Lucy fan, that is thanks to my Gran. My grandparents LOVE animals they always have had lots of cats and dogs most of which they had rescued. My cousins, sisters, and I would have SO much fun playing with them. We had a ball everytime we went over to my grandparents. They are both people who walk with Christ, every Sunday we would go to Holy Trinity and listen to Monsignor Provenza give an amazing homily. They gave us some of the best memories a kid could have asked for with their grandparents. THE NEED: My grandma was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a few years back. She has delt with it very well with the love and support from my Tooth and the family. For years Tooth was in and out of the hospital because of his conjestive heart failure. He finally began to get better and was out of the hospital. Then on his birthday in 2014 he was in a car accident where he fractured a vertebrea. He was hospitalized and they needed to do surgery. Now because his heart was not up to par they were worried his heart could not handle the anesthesia. My Tooth faced a very hard decision he could either have the surgery and possibly pass away or he could lay in a bed and not be able to move without being at risk of being paralyzed. Tooth made the decision to have the surgery. The priest came and blessed him on the day of the surgery and all of my family gathered at Willis Knighton Pierrmont praying for good news. My grandma was so worried, but she was trying to be strong for everyone. Tooth came out of the surgery just fine. We all had God to thank for it. He was doing so well for months. Then he took a turn for the worse, he was back in the hospital just as swollen as could be. He was in and out of the hospital for months. With many visits from Dr. Danzell, who was his cardiologist, and a man my grandparents loved. In March of 2015 Tooth had been released from the hospital and got to go home. He was out of the hospital for two days then he sadly passed away on March 16, 2015. We know he was happy he got to spend the last few days of his life on earth at home with my grandmother and their animals. We all love him and miss him greatly but we know he is so happy where is he now. He was a true man God and is the best guardian angel. My grandmother was the one who found him in the hallway of their home. This is the same home they have had for years, my mother grew up in that home. It is an old trailer out in Stonewall, it is falling apart. It is not fully paid off and we are trying to move my grandmother closer to town near us. We are not sure where she would live, but are looking at an assisted living place of Flournoy Lucas, maybe the Glen. That is where her brother is living currently. We really need to get her out of that house, it is really taking a toll on her health. Before recently I could not even tell that she had anything wrong with her except for her shakiness. Now when you look at her you see a very skinny lady who looks sad. She is stressed about her house note and knows she needs to get out of that house. She is unable to work due to her health. She shakes so bad sometimes she is unable to drive. All the money raised will go towards her house not. We have been praying and are not a family to ask for help, but theres nothing left to do. We love our Gran and want her to be with us for many more years. Please help us keep my grandma around longer. We are also rehoming her animals, she has 6 cats and 3 dogs. Please contact us if you know of anyone looking to adopt. We have contacted local rescues. I thank everyone in advance for even taking the time to read this. Even if you are unable to give monetarily please keep our family and my grandma in your prayers.
