Summary Many children in Gulu Town’s slums struggle to finish education. The National Youth Sports Club Academy Uganda has teamed up with other stakeholders in the community to bring the "National Youth Sports Club Academy Uganda’s" initiative, which combines the importance of literacy with the excitement of football coaching to make learning as stimulating as it should be. This scheme uses stories of top players to engage children into expressing their dreams and ambitions using the English Language. Supporting this project will help them to enjoy learning English literacy and football. Total Goal 50,000 USD Challenge The level of football skills and English literacy amongst the Ugandan youth is on very low standards. The National Youth Sport Clubs Academy’s project will use football and education to form a fun, and enjoyable way for young people to engage with academic studies and football at the same time. Solution The football coaching element is an essential part of National Youth Sport Clubs Academy. The student participants get a lesson: a language session and a football one. National Youth Sport Clubs Academy sessions are intended to supplement the National curriculum, rather than replace it. Long-Term Impact Through this football and education project, youth in Uganda will develop and improve their football skills and English literacy as they grow up. This consequently reduces the alarming rates of English literacy and luck of football skills amongst youth.
