We live in a world of massive change.
Since the beginning of last century, the world's pace has accelerated drastically and the scale of global issues as well.
Collectively, we have lots of many challenges to tackle...
Climate change, offering better education - one that is more aligned with today's reality, managing the digital transition, social inclusion, preparing students for a multicultural world and many more. Unfortunately, higher education is failing to prepare us for many of these challenges, and especially for a net-zero world. We need more actors in the world to drive this change.
Oikos International and myself believe education is a powerful lever to change things.
WHY DID I CHOSE THIS PROJECT?
1. Because educating student at this time may impact his/her lifelong career.
→ 3 to 5 years at university VS ~40 years of career path
2. Since 1987, Oikos focuses on Economics and Management education, they prepare generations of Leaders, Managers and many more to campaign and create a better environment for a more sustainable world.
3. Today, Oikos International’s results are visible.
3.1. Active Oikos alumni are in key & senior positions in a number of large organisations and quite a few have created their own company.
⇒ Alumni-founded companies selling their products internationally (e.g. Ynsect, Essento only to mention sustainable food production).
⇒ Some hold key positions in Public organisation (Professors in many universities, in United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), national parliament members.
⇒ Some are in the non-for-profit sector such as Phool.co, WWF or Impact Hub.
⇒ Some in the private sector such as Nestlé, ABB or Volkswagen.
3.2. In the last 3 years, Oikos International has had active teams working in 13 higher education institutions on curriculum change.
3.3. Since the creation of the Oikos Leadership program, they successfully equipped more than 350 students and researchers to lead in this complex world through their different program tracks.
Together, all these individuals drive change in different sectors, different environments. This creates a web of projects that directly impact thousands of people across the globe.
3.4. Lastly, Oikos international has a bottom-up approach (by students for students as mentioned above) but also through a top-down approach (by influencing university accreditations organisations through being part of PRME and GRLI).
WHY DO THEY NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
Running a non-for-profit organisation requires constant funds. Through your support to make this fundraiser more visible or through your financial contribution, you help the entire team and the thousands of students who make the change to act collectively on this matter.
