Why Am I Doing This?
Education is a gift - one that every child, no matter where they live, deserves.
Every child deserves a safe, enriching place where they can discover, grow, and dream of a future that holds endless possibilities.
Kenya holds a special place in my heart. Thirty years ago, I was a young student in Kenya, studying wildlife management south of Nairobi. That experience transformed me; it led me to a career as a wildlife biologist and eventually to creating Backpack Sciences. Kenya was the beginning of so much for me - and the kindness of its people and the beauty of its land have never left my heart.
Now, I've been given an amazing opportunity to return and give back to the place that gave me so much.
In July 2025, I'll be there, helping to build a new school, Amani Primary, and witnessing its opening.
The funds we're raising through this promotion will help make this dream a reality. A reality for children who deserve to learn, grow, and shape their own futures.
This journey is deeply personal. It's a chance to help the next generation of children in Kenya and to see the place where my own journey began.
