Hello Community of Plymouth State,
Art and design have always been used as a means of communication and expression. As young designers and artists, we feel a moral obligation to support those in need and educate our community about the ongoing war in Ukraine. This war, genocide, and destruction affect everyone on the planet, but Ukrainians were particularly affected. The war has been ongoing since February 24, 2022, and more than 5 million people have fled Ukraine. In addition, millions of civilians are trapped in the midst of a continuing war and humanitarian disaster.
At Plymouth State University, we have students, instructors, and staff from all over the world, including Ukrainians. There are all those who have family and friends who live in Ukraine and its neighboring countries. For two weeks (Tuesday, April 26th – Friday, May 6th), the PSU Graphic Design Club will partner with Global Giving to raise funds for their Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund through tabling in the Hartman Union Building Lobby and our online Global Giving account. Any amount of donation from any member of our community is gratefully accepted.
To show how grateful we are for your contribution, we will give away stickers designed by the PSU Graphic Design Club with each donation. Flyers with a QR code that leads to our online fundraiser page on Global Giving will be distributed throughout campus for two weeks (Tuesday, April 26th – Friday, May 6th). The PSU Graphic Design Club created informative posters and
presentations about Ukraine. A table in the lobby of the Hartman Union Building will serve as both an educational event about Ukraine and a fundraiser to help Ukraine. We will also be happy to answer any questions because one of the members of the PSU Graphic Design club is an international student from Ukraine.
Your contribution to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund will help to deliver the following:
Shelter, food, and clean water for refugees
Health and psychosocial support
Access to education and economic assistance
And more
Art and design can make a difference, and by putting our skills to use for this cause, we can see how the power of visual communication can change the world by helping those in need.
