The Bouncing Bunnies are here to help a refugee family from Artsakh get back on their feet.
From August to December of last year, this family churned out about 500 teddy bears that were distributed to children at risk here in Armenia. This supported them through most of this winter – financially, yes, but also mentally, giving them focus and a small hope for the future.
Now into the New Year, we want to give them an opportunity to keep that work going, this time not with teddy bears, but now with bunny rabbits for Easter.
Here is their back story from when this support system started last August:
I was alone in the HDIF office today. A woman shyly came in and looked at our crocheted products. She came to my desk and pulled this beautifully crocheted battered bear out of her bag. Poor battered bear, kinda symbolizes how we’re all feeling these days.
I asked where she was from and she said Artsakh. Her eyes implored. She said she just wants to work. They’re a family of eight. She showed me a photo of their huge house in Stepanakert. She showed me photos of her son and son-in-law, both had their faces and hands badly burned in that gas station explosion we’ve all heard about. She told me a lot more. And she cried. I gave her a hug before she left.
So we’re doing this little campaign. The bunnies are 7 inches / 18 cm tall. 100% cotton. Each is $16 or AMD 6000.
There are about six weeks until Easter as of mid February. Our goal is to raise enough funds for a minimum 40 of these Bouncing Bunnies, but we’d like to have a lot more to have a couple of Easter events for children at risk in Yerevan.
As time is short, we are doing this campaign purely as donation. If you want bunnies shipped to you, we’re just not sure they will arrive before Easter, unfortunately. But if you really want some, or are in Yerevan to pick up, we can arrange it! Drop an email to hdifarmenia@gmail.com if you want bunnies shipped or you want to pick up. We will assume that everything is a donation unless we get an email from you!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support you have always shown us as we work with the most vulnerable of families in Armenia.
Let’s make this work!
