Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization that redistributes surplus food from businesses to nonprofits that serve people who experience hunger and food insecurity. RLC crowdsources community members as “Rescuers” to transport the food, using our custom-built technology application that manages the logistics. In a nutshell, you could compare RLC’s platform to a ride-share platform...for food.
YOUR DONATION WILL SUPPORT OUR 2022 OBJECTIVES:
1. RESEARCH & OUTREACH: Broaden partnerships to increase food rescue and redistribution in Massachusetts; and make food recovery common practice rather than the exception by educating businesses on the law, logistics and benefits of donating surplus food.
2. FREE SERVICE: Continue our no-fee model for businesses that have consumable surplus food to donate but cannot afford pickups for RLC to coordinate and distribute to nearby Nonprofit Partners.
3. PAID RESCUER PROGRAM: Complements our volunteer platform, enhances reliability, and increases our impact — while giving Rescuers the opportunity to cover necessary transportation expenses while earning extra income for their good deeds.
