This year, I joined the team of TEP (trazando espacios públicos or tracing public spaces), a beautiful non profit organization based in Venezuela and focused on developing citizenship through participatory design.
Our strongest area is teaching Children how to transform their public spaces and equipping them with the right tools to create community in a long term.
Empowerment, inclusion, synergy, empathy, creativity and ecological conscience are part of our values.
This opportunity, we have a different challenge: we want to build a school for 115 kids in a town called Guaruchal in Venezuela. Why here?
This isolated town has only one small school. Also, 41% of the children and teenagers are outside of the school system. 67% of these are under the care of the women of the family. Women that are unable to work outside the house without compromising the safety of the kids.
This community deserves an opportunity to build with local materials a new communitary center and school, where they can performance cultural, economical, educational activities and so on. Always giving priority to the interests from the community.
In order to help Guaruchal, we need to raise 50000$. In the first run we need 5000$ in 15 days (september 14th - september 30) to pass into the next stage of the program, where we will raised the rest of the money. So, please help these kids to have a better education and a physical space they could use.
