In Nigeria, children continually face varying forms of abuse ranging from child labour, abandonment, physical maltreatment, jungle justice to sexual abuse. The sad but true fact, is that child abuse is now so common, that it is a daily reality for many Nigerian children, and only a fraction ever receive help.
My name is Lydia Onokpasa, I am a 15 year old, myself and my sister (who is also a teenager) are activists living in Nigeria. Although we have never been victims of abuse, we are not blind to the plight of children who are; and because of that, we both have decided undertake a series of activities under a project 'OUR VOICES', that are designed to create more awareness on child abuse and empower victims of child abuse, the activities tgat will take place include- an awareness March, a workshop, conferences that will focus on how to end child abuse, rehabilitation of victims of child abuse and many others.
