In Haiti, the use of child domestic workers, girls or boys, is common especially in urban areas. They come from the countryside as part of the rural exodus. They intend to lead an easier life in the city more than in the countryside on the one hand. On the other hand, young people from poor rural families who can no longer afford to support themselves and their schooling come to the city to seek their fortune. There are some who do not immediately find domestic work, and who become suddenly
street children. Those who are hired as domestic servants are mostly abused by their employers by:
o Physical violence (beatings, burns ...)
o Psychological violence
o Girls are often overworked by their employers
o Hunted without being paid
