EMPOWER REFORMED CIRCUMCISORS

Through our Run for the Girl Child Half Marathon held in Mt Elgon on 25th November 2018 at Kaptama ward, 10 reformed circumcisors downed their tools and pledged to support us in the fight to end FGM and child marriage in Mt Elgon. From their speeches, it was evident that poverty has been the biggest cause of them keeping on cutting girls. Despite some serving jail terms, they still kept on cutting girls as a way of living.

It is on this reason that Adventure Youth Group is appealing to well wishers to donate so as to help us empower these reformed circumcisors from Mt Elgon, Kenya. These women, who have since increased to 18 in number can be an important asset in the fight against FGM, early marriages and teenage pregnancies. We would like to provide each of them a dairy cow that can produce at least 10 litres a day. This milk is then sold and the women can meet their daily needs without much strain. A litre of milk in Mt Elgon trades at $0.5, and hence this will guarantee the women $50 daily, consequently, the women will earn a living from a decent source of income. A good daily cow costs $500. We are sourcing for funds to buy 18 dairy cows for each of these reformed circumcisors
