Many poor girls in rural areas miss up to four or more days of classes every month during menstruation because they cannot afford sanitary pads or napkins. Some girls are known to use old piece of cloth, tissue paper, plastic paper or even newspapers or leaves in a bid to manage their periods. This often leads to embarrassing moments and many of the girls opt to skip class altogether.
