Hello everyone!
We are Lourdes and Jaelan and this summer we'll be traveling to Sri Lanka for a service-learning experience with Tea Leaf Trust. During our time there, we'll be working alongside tea estate communities while learning about the challenges they face and supporting programs that create lasting opportunities for young people.
We're raising funds for Tea Leaf Trust's Support a Student, Strengthen a Community campaign, which provides education, vocational training, life skills, and emotional support to students from vulnerable tea estate communities. These programs empower young people to pursue meaningful careers, support their families, and become leaders who give back to their own communities. By supporting just one student, you're also helping improve the lives of at least 15 other community members, creating a ripple effect of positive, long-term change.
As part of our experience, we'll also participate in the Tea Picker Challenge, spending a day working alongside tea pickers to better understand the realities of their work. Around 80% of Tea Leaf Trust students come from tea-picking families, making this an important opportunity for us to gain a deeper appreciation of the challenges many families face every day.
Every dollar raised through this fundraiser will go directly toward supporting the education and development of Tea Leaf Trust students. Your generosity will help provide opportunities that can transform lives, strengthen families, and empower communities for generations to come.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, every contribution makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting us, the students, and the incredible work of Tea Leaf Trust. We can't wait to share our journey with you! 🤍
