We help students become the CEO of their own lives! As a national youth entrepreneurship nonprofit, BUILD has equipped over 10,000 high school students across the United States to launch more than 2,000 real businesses. BUILD prioritizes youth of color from under-resourced communities throughout the nation. More than 95% of BUILD students are youth of color, 74% are experiencing poverty, and 87% are first-generation college students. We strategically partner with high-need schools/ districts, such as Title I Schools, to address our nation's educational inequities to propel students of color into academic and lifelong success. Today, BUILD impacts 8,600+ youth annually through in-person, digital, or blended programming. BUILD is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area with regional offices in Washington, DC, Boston, and New York City. We also partner with schools in Los Angeles and Richmond, CA; Memphis, TN; Pittsburgh, PA; Payson, AZ; and three Boys & Girls Clubs in Martin County, FL. In partnership with our 450+ BUILD-trained educators in 100+ cities, BUILD delivers diversified in-person, digital, or blended programming that uniquely combines entrepreneurship education, career readiness, financial literacy, social-emotional learning SEL), and 21st Century skills while also changing mindsets, building confidence, and tapping into hidden potential. Mentorship, development of SEL via BUILD's Spark Skills (Communication, Collaboration, Problem Solving, Innovation, Grit, and Self-Management), career-connected learning, and building social capital are the hallmarks of our entrepreneurship programming. BUILD firmly believes that entrepreneurship is the key to creating racial equity and justice in our nation. To that end, we continue to grow, innovate, and advocate in support of our youth. We are expanding our reach to more educators, schools, community-based organizations, and cities throughout the country. We are creating new digital products and enhanced alumni programming to ensure we equip young people with the skills needed for future social and economic mobility. We are advocating for entrepreneurship education in every school, convening key influencers who support youth entrepreneurship, and devising new approaches to create equitable high-quality learning opportunities. Amazing things happen when a 14- or 15-year-old can stand proudly and say, "I'm the CEO of a company that I created." It completely changes what is possible in that young person's life. BUILD's Impact: --99% of BUILD seniors have graduated from high school on time, far surpassing the 53% national average for low-income Black and Latinx youth --86% of BUILD seniors have been accepted to a two- or three-year college or university --93% of students improve in at least one out of six of BUILD's Spark Skills after just one year of BUILD --86% of BUILD teachers strongly agree or agree that BUILD is helping them become better teachers
