Project Vision is a project under the Hope Anti Addiction Action Group, which is a charitable registered society with tax exception in India since 1990. From 2015, TPV Global has been working in collaboration with the Project Vision, India to bring comfort to the people who are visually challenged. Various activities have been supported by TPV Global and many people have been helped to be empowered through its activities. Project Vision was started in 2013 to help people with visual impairment. There are five areas to this work, as explained below. 1. EYE DONATION MOVEMENT: We started a movement on eye donations to promote people to donate their eyes as there are large number of people who are blind and can get the gift of sight through eye donations. We have so far been able to influence more than 500,000 people to donate their eyes. We have been able to collect eyes from over 300 persons after their death, thus giving sight to 600 blind persons. Being a movement, there is scope of promoting this anywhere in the world. This is an ongoing program since 2013. 2. BLINDWALKS; One of the activities have done was to conduct BlindWalks, an activity to get people to walk blindfolded. We have conducted over 1000 BlindWalks in different parts of the world, including in Dallas, Texas in collaboration with other agencies. We have conducted BlindWalks in India, Nepal, Srilanka and US. The visually challenged persons are involved in the BlindWalk to lead the walk, while all others are blindfolded. This was done from 2014 till this year. 3. CATARACT OPERATIONS: Apart from eye donations, one way to give sight is to help them medically to get sight through cataract operations. Realising this, we have been coordinating with different hospitals to provide free operations. We have so far completed more than 9000 cataract operations. This has brought them sight and enabled them to manage their life. This was done from 2013-2023. 4. RURAL EYE CLINIC : We set up a Rural Eye Clinic in 2019, about 100 kilometres from Bangalore in a village to provide our services to the people who are living the rural areas and who cannot access the services in the city. Based at Kasapura village in Tumkur district of Karnataka State in India, we have reached out to about 200 villages in the area with the eye screening camps. 5. EDUCATION SUPPORT FOR THE VISUALLY CHALLENGED: We supported the education of the people who are visually challenged through various ways. We have helped about 200 such children so far from 2013. They were provided with braille facility. Some were provided with hostel accommodation. Some were given admission to regular schools and colleges, while others were supported with higher eduction training. One of the girls we supported for education, has got a National Award in 2022 as the most talented young blind artist, which was received from the President of India. TPV Global took up to work in close coordination with some local agencies already engaged with the work for the visually challenged persons in Texas. In 2015 and 2016, joint program to benefit the community were organised. TPV Global helped its Indian counterpart by raising funds for its activities in India during this period from 2015 to 2023. Thus TPV Global and Project Vision work in close coordination to benefit the visually challenged community both in US and India. We plan to continue to work together for this mission.
