Since we started, Atomic Lab has delivered more than 5,500 free 3D-printed prosthetic hands and arms, reaching people across 44 countries. Our model combines digital manufacturing, a distributed network of volunteers and organizations, and our Limbs platform to make prosthetic devices more accessible to people who need them. All prosthetic devices are provided 100% free of charge to beneficiaries. Atomic Lab has successfully implemented and managed multiple grants supported by GlobalGiving and Ford, including grants 11093, 13401, 15565, 17503 and 18186. These projects were supervised and managed by the Atomic Lab team. - Our Programs and Projects Manotón Manotón is Atomic Lab's corporate and community volunteering program through which participants help assemble 3D-printed prosthetic devices that are later delivered free of charge to people who need them. The initiative brings together volunteers, companies and organizations around a hands-on social impact experience. Participants learn about 3D printing, assistive technology and the process behind the devices while directly contributing to their assembly. Manotón has been implemented for approximately a decade, including activities in Argentina and internationally, and continues to be one of Atomic Lab's principal volunteering and community-engagement initiatives. Atomic Ambassadors Our distributed manufacturing model enables individuals and organizations with access to 3D printers to collaborate as Atomic Ambassadors. When appropriate, printable models can be produced locally by ambassadors, NGOs, volunteers, companies and educational institutions. This distributed approach allows Atomic Lab to reduce logistical barriers and bring production closer to beneficiaries. Atomic Lab provides the digital designs and coordinates the process so that beneficiaries receive their devices without being charged. Limbs Platform We developed Limbs, our digital platform for managing requests and supporting the distributed production and delivery of 3D-printed prosthetic devices. Through Limbs, beneficiaries can initiate the process of requesting a prosthetic device 100% free of charge. The platform supports Atomic Lab's workflow by connecting requests with our distributed manufacturing and volunteer network. More information is available at limbs.earth. Awards, Recognition and Partnerships Atomic Lab and its founder have received recognition from organizations and initiatives including MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 (TR35), the U.S. Embassy in Argentina, HISTORY, GSEA, and other national and international institutions. Over the years, Atomic Lab has also collaborated with or received support from organizations and companies including Ford/Ford Fund, Microsoft, The Walt Disney Company, Samsung, Google, Meta, Mercado Libre, Telecom, Siemens, Autodesk, UNICEF, 3M, GlobalGiving, and others. These collaborations have included volunteering initiatives, technology support, awareness campaigns, equipment, funding and the organization of Manotón events. 2018 (& 2023) Ford Fund Project – “Giving a Hand Through Argentina” with the support of Ford Fund and GlobalGiving, the Atomic Lab team traveled twice more than 25,400 kilometers each across Argentina using a Ford Ranger equipped with three solar panels and a 3D printer. The project enabled the team to deliver more than 200 3D-printed prosthetic hands and arms free of charge to people across the country. The project demonstrated how mobile and distributed manufacturing technologies could help reduce geographic barriers to accessing assistive devices. 2019–2026: Continued Development and Impact Since 2019, Atomic Lab has continued developing its technology, manufacturing processes, digital tools and distributed volunteer network to improve the efficiency, scalability and quality of its programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our work with partners including Ford and GlobalGiving also enabled us to expand our response beyond prosthetic devices. Through distributed manufacturing and volunteer collaboration, we contributed to initiatives that supported more than 35,000 people in Argentina, while related efforts reached hundreds of thousands of people internationally. In recent years, Atomic Lab has continued expanding its prosthetics program, developing new digital tools, renewing its 3D-printing infrastructure and organizing volunteer manufacturing initiatives with corporate and institutional partners. As of 2026, Atomic Lab has delivered more than 5,500 free prosthetic devices, 150 000 downloads, across 48 countries, while continuing to develop technologies and partnerships designed to make assistive solutions more accessible.
