Christmas Adoption

Black Beauty
Black Beauty

Rescuing cats is just a part of what we do at New Beginnings Cat Rescue. Finding the cats a home is our ultimate goal. While each adoption is a joyful celebration, there are some that stay with us forever. One such adoption took place just a week before Christmas.

It all began about 2 ½ years ago when a beautiful 4 year old black cat, was returned to New Beginnings Cat Rescue. He was being bullied by a bigger cat in his home and that was causing him stress. With each passing year, our hope of finding the right family was diminishing.  Not only is it more difficult for an adult cat to find a home (as opposed to a kitten), but an adult black cat is probably the most difficult to adopt out.  People tend to shy away from them no matter how sweet they are.

That is until a kind young man submitted an adoption application. Within a few days, he visited the adoption center, looked at this beautiful cat and a perfect adoption was completed.

There is financial cost involved in rescuing cats but the joy of witnessing their adoption is priceless. Without your help, these adoptions wouldn’t be possible. Thank you for your support!

Thankful Kitten

Sydney
Sydney's injured leg

When a Cat is taken to the local animal shelter, the first thing the shelter does is to try and reunite the pet with their owner. If that fails, the shelter will place the cat in their adoption center. Though the shelter's adoption center successfully finds homes for a lot of them, many cats will run out of time. This is especially true when they are injured as was the case with a cat named Sydney. Gratefully, the shelter contacted New Beginnings Cat Rescue.

Sydney is a sweet 1 year old kitten who was turned in to the local city shelter with her front, left limb broken at the wrist. The break was not a new one, probably a few weeks old and although Sydney was not in pain she did have trouble walking normally. Instead of amputating right away the vet thought the leg could possibly be surgically repaired, saving the limb.  As he said, once you amputate you can't go back, but you can always try saving it first, then amputate later if it does not heal properly.  We agreed to give it a shot.  Unfortunately Sydney's leg did not heal properly and a few weeks later it was determined that the leg needed to be amputated.  After the 2nd surgery, Sydney healed quickly. Her foster describes her this way: “ She is super cute when she bats around toys with the one front leg.”

New Beginnings Cat Rescue knows how urgent it is to respond quickly and rescue the precious homeless cats. Because of your donations to New Beginnings Cat Rescue, we can continue to rescue kittens like Sydney.

Thank you our loyal financial supporters, for making it possible, year after year, to save the lives of 100s of cats and kittens.

Recently Recued Kittens

Little Pink Happy Feet
Little Pink Happy Feet
“Bright, Alert and Reactive.” This was the description given of 4 kittens by the local animal shelter this past Friday. They came in the night before and were only 3-4 weeks old.  Since they were eating very little on their own, they were placed on the Urgent List.  They would need to be cared for like any helpless infant.

One of the four little kittens just wasn’t eating well. Hoping he would do better with a mother cat, the search was on. Fortunately another volunteer was caring for a momma cat, but would the mother cat accept this little orphan? Hoping she would, they introduced the helpless kitten to the momma cat.  Right away, she accepted him as one of her own babies and not just him. She also accepted another orphaned kitten that needed her. What a beautiful picture of immeasurable love.

Thank you for giving to New Beginnings Cat Rescue. With your financial support, these sweet kittens will soon be available for adoption into a loving home. This too is a beautiful picture of immeasurable love.
